The sound
- House
- Four-on-the-floor dance music, steady and warm. Tech house is the tighter, punchier kind.
- Techno
- Darker and more driving than house, with fewer vocals. Made for long nights.
- Afro house
- House with African percussion and chants. Groovy, a little slower.
- Amapiano
- From South Africa: rolling log-drum bass, soft keys and a lazy, bouncy tempo.
- UK garage
- Skippy, shuffling rhythms with chopped-up R&B vocals.
- Baile funk
- Brazilian party music: heavy drums and chant-along vocals.
- Open format
- The DJ plays across genres, hip-hop to pop to throwbacks. Good for mixed groups.
