Techno
Darker and more driving than house, with few vocals. Made for long nights.
- Tempo, BPM
- 125–140
- Where it started
- Detroit, mid 1980s
What it sounds like
Machine music: a pounding kick, metallic percussion and repeating synth patterns that change a little at a time. Fewer vocals and chords than house, more hypnotic and harder.
