Poblacion, Makati · Night

Good crowd.

The 30-second guide to a good night out in Poblacion: the booth, the floor, the people, getting home.

At the booth

  • Don't hand the DJ a beer or a shot.

They're working, and drinks near the decks end up on the decks. Water is always welcome.

  • Skip the song requests.

They planned the set. If you love what's playing, tell them after, or follow them on Instagram.

  • Don't lean on the booth or reach over it.

One bump skips the track for the whole room.

On the floor

  • Dance, or step aside.

Long chats and group photos belong at the bar or outside, not in the middle of the floor.

  • Film a few seconds, then put the phone down.

A flash in someone's face is no one's favorite part of the night.

  • Ask before you post people.

Not everyone wants to be on your story. Blur them or crop them out if you can't ask.

With people

  • No means no, the first time.

Same for a turned shoulder or a friend stepping in. Let it go and move on.

  • Be nice to the bar and the door.

Wait your turn, say what you want in one go, and tip if you can. They remember.

  • Watch your drink, and your friends'.

Keep it in your hand. If one gets left alone, get a new one.

Getting home

  • Arrive together, leave together.

Agree on a meeting spot and a time before you go in. Nobody walks to their Grab alone.

  • Keep it down on the street.

People live above the bars. Being quiet outside is how Poblacion stays open late.
